The Art of Email: How Flodesk Supports My Brand
0 comments
I am a siren… Not the kind who lures sailors toward wreckage, but one who sings to the parts of herself that were once silenced—and supports other women in rediscovering their desires, boundaries, and voice.
In my email newsletter Muses & Sirens, I recently launched a slow-unfolding series that explores the feminine psyche, sensuality, grief, mythic longing, and reclamation of personal power through the siren archetype. In it, I imagine her as a metaphor, a memory, and a mirror for the women who read it.
The stories I write aren’t meant to be skimmed...
As a writer, somatic practitioner, and coach, every touchpoint I share is intentional. The way something looks, feels, and flows matters deeply to me because aesthetic is an extension of embodiment—and beauty is an active agent in the healing process.
My readers are women who move through the world with emotional depth, complexity, and a hunger for intimacy and understanding.
Choosing Flodesk as my email marketing provider was an extension of that intention to communicate depth.
It’s the only platform I’ve found that merges intuitive function with the attuned design sensibility Muse by Midnight calls for. My brand is soft, sacred, and expressive—and visual storytelling is non-negotiable. Flodesk makes my emails and newsletters look (and feel) like art.
I’ve been a Flodesk user for almost two years—and as a Flodesk Partner, I love sharing how fluidly it supports creatives, healers, coaches, and emotion-centered brands like mine.
Email, But Make It Art
My brand is sensual and narrative-driven so my emails need to look like they belong in my world—and with Flodesk, they do. I’m able to create beautiful layouts (using templates and an easy-to-use interface) that feel like an elevated extension of the curated experience I’m offering.
Due to the constant, fluctuating changes of social media algorithms, I pivoted away from building my primary audience on Instagram and Facebook and moved towards email marketing in 2022. I wanted a direct line to the women in my community—where my content wouldn’t be buried by trends or be dependent on how much (or how often) I posted.
I tried numerous email service providers (ESPs), including Mailchimp and ConvertKit, and ultimately, I kept returning to Flodesk. The interface is intuitive. The pricing is reasonable. And most importantly, the features I care about most are there: aesthetic design, intuitive flows, segmentation, automation, flexible landing pages, and straightforward analytics dashboards.
If you’d like to try Flodesk, I’d love to offer you 25% off your first year when you sign up using my affiliate link. Use the code (MUSEAPPROVED). I will receive a small commission as a Flodesk Partner—thank you for supporting my work—but I truly recommend it because it’s a platform I confidently stand behind.

Features I Love
-
Advanced Forms + Automated Workflows
Flodesk’s forms and automations (called “workflows”) are beautifully interconnected, making it easy to deliver visually immersive, on-brand subscriber experiences.
As an incentive for new readers of Muses & Sirens, I currently offer a free Sacral Alchemy™ meditation as a gift— delivered automatically after a double opt-in. I use double opt-in to protect deliverability and make sure my emails aren’t landing in spam folders.
Once someone subscribes, they’re added to a custom segment, which then triggers a workflow that sends the meditation inside an artfully designed email. I love that I have full control over the visual direction of every touchpoint, even inside automations.
Prior to the meditation, I offered a downloadable muse-themed coloring page and activity sheet—designed to help women visualize their inner muse and what they wanted to attract into their lives. Every so often, I switch out the freebie to keep things engaging, and with Flodesk, I don’t need to rebuild the entire workflow from scratch.
One of the most intuitive aspects of Flodesk is the ability to track where subscribers may fall off within a workflow—allowing me to spot friction points and refine the subscriber journey accordingly.
Flodesk’s automations don’t just simplify my backend—they allow me to build ritual-like flows that offer a beautiful front-end experience, and easy setup and maintenance on the backend.
-
Shopify Integration
Since my platform is built on Shopify, Flodesk’s native integration makes it easy to support the entire client lifecycle with minimal static. It lets me stay attuned to the needs of my clients—without compromising the sensory or aesthetic experience I’m curating across touchpoints.
For one, I can seamlessly sync clients into specific segments to trigger post-purchase workflows or abandoned cart sequences, which means I can automate parts of the client journey that would otherwise take hours of backend coordination.
For instance, if someone adds a product to their cart but doesn’t check out, they’ll receive a gentle reminder—automatically sent in their local currency. If they complete a purchase, I can initiate a follow-up sequence that offers either a warm thank you message, guidance for next steps in their onboarding experience, or a product-specific ritual—depending on what they purchased.
Of course, I could build these flows directly in Shopify, but I prefer keeping all my emails centralized within Flodesk so I can maintain visual consistency and have a clear, holistic view of performance across every all surfaces.
All of this happens without needing a third-party tool, and with an extensive tech stack, I appreciate anything that cuts down on fragmentation. Plus, the ability to build product-specific flows and send emails in multiple currencies is ideal for Muse by Midnight’s global community.
Of course, different clients require different energies. A woman who purchases a Sacral Alchemy™ coaching session interacts with me differently than a brand I’m supporting on a creative campaign. Flodesk helps me support both—automating what needs to run (without oversight) in the background, so I can stay more present in the relationships that need live, human depth.
With the nature of my work—especially as a somatic coach—I try to keep as much of my personal touch in the client experience as possible. So, when I’m able to free up admin tasks, it increases my capacity, and allows me show up more fully in sessions and remain rooted in the quality of care I want to offer.
-
Zapier Integration
Since my work spans somatic coaching, storytelling, and creative direction, I often rely on multiple systems to stay organized—and Zapier is an essential staple in toolbox.
Through Flodesk’s integration with Zapier, I’m able to connect my email system with scheduling tools and spreadsheets I use for organizing both my schedule and client information. This is best illustrated when someone books a Sacral Alchemy™ coaching session, and their details are instantly added to my mailing list, which then initiates an automated, personalized sequence that sets the tone (and provides preparation instructions) before we have our 1:1.
For me, as a very hands-on businesswoman, utilizing Flodesk and Zapier ensures that my communications retain its authentic, high-touch feel—while reliably streamlining back-end tasks and maintaining full control.
-
Drag-and-Drop Visual Editor
I can build beautiful emails in minutes without sacrificing intentionality or polish. I can also upload my custom fonts and brand colors, which helps establish cohesiveness (and consistency) across all my marketing materials.
Flodesk also offers a well-designed library of email templates that can be easily customized with your brand’s colors, fonts, and visual assets.
-
Canva Integration
I regularly design coaching materials and embodiment guides that align with my brand in Canva, and Flodesk’s integration makes it incredibly smooth to insert those assets directly into my emails.
As a bonus, I can still update my visuals independently in Canva—without triggering automatic changes—so I can tailor each piece of content for a specific purpose.
-
Deliverability
Flodesk, for the most part, upends the old image-to-text ratio myth—ensuring that your creative vision, in all its vivid detail, reaches inboxes reliability. For someone like me—whose brand is heavily image and mood-driven—this is a non-negotiable.
Designed With the Creative in Mind
I also work in tech as a fractional CMO and product marketer, and while my tech clients might use more complex CRMs, they also have a different set of internal needs and metrics requirements.
However, for Muse by Midnight, for Sacral Alchemy, and for the type of women I write to (and design for)—Flodesk is the perfect partner. It meets me where I am: as a creative, a healer, and a storyteller, and it lets me bring the beauty of my world into others—with every email.

That said, I’d still recommend Flodesk even if I wasn’t a partner because when you’re sending poems, reflective letters, and slow, sensory storytelling—you need more than a platform. You need a muse.
